Searching for My Style

Work. Review. Critique. Repeat.

I’ve been taking that mantra to heart lately by creating hundreds of photos every week. Close-ups and “big pictures.” Bugs, clouds, birds, flowers, and landscapes.

I’ve been wondering: is taking pictures of so many different subjects helpful? Will this seemingly indiscriminate “point and shoot” lead me closer to developing my own style? I wasn’t quite sure. But other people have commented, sending over very kind, unsolicited emails or texts. First, they think I’m getting better. (Is it bad to admit that I think I am, too?) They feel like they can “tell” when a photo is mine. They’re seeing a connection between my pictures: details brought front and center, bright colors, and positivity.

I like that description It makes me happy.

It might be working.
